Service OptionsAttorney Services: (Professional relationship -Academy membership is not required)
Dr. R.L. "Ron" Ramsdell, PhD is a Fellow of the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute, Fellow of the MAAMA, Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Examiners, a Certified Forensic Consultant, non-attorney member of the American Health Lawyers Association and long time member of the American Academy of Pain Management. We work closely with our Attorney clients to assess their client's current compliance, establish an effective compliance plan and provide ongoing oversight under the Attorney work product relationship. We will also be pleased to serve as consulting experts for your litigations. Base Membership in the M.A.A.M.A.The Academy welcomes members from all areas of practice, law, science and business members from corporations who seek to service or supply our diverse membership. While our "primary focus" is practice compliance we recognize that some practices already have effective compliance and independent oversight plans and seek only the ability to receive current information on general changes to the practice environment, do their own in-depth research and/or rely on their current practice consultants to provide them with the accurate and authoritative information to maintain full compliance in coding, billing and documentation. The following "Base Membership Programs" are offered:
ConsultingConsulting services are contracted through the MedCorp Compliance Network and plans vary by the nature and needs of the client. Unlike other "consultants" who charge up to $36,000 a year, we choose to tailor your solutions to your actual needs and desires. We are not "coaches"; we are recognized Board Certified "Forensic Experts" with access to "field specialty professionals" to insure accurate and up to date information in these specialty areas. New practice set up, expansion of scope, assistance during carrier audit and assistance in resolving practice issues are all forms of consulting services available to these clients. Clients receive frequent e-mail "alerts" on compliance, carrier policy changes, Medicare changes, noteworthy news items and our annual reports on changes to the CPT, HCPCS and ICD-9 codes. Clients are welcome to call or e-mail with questions on issues such as proper coding, documentation standards, pre-purchase advise on new equipment or any practice issue where they may have questions or concerns. The base membership for clients with consulting privileges is $600.00 per year with the ability to receive oversight services at discounted rates. MedCorp is staffed with Certified Forensic Consultants who serve as "Consulting Experts" to many legal firms. Our team has already developed many "Attorney defense packets" that are available to attorneys as a "full research and history package" on many carrier claims. Examples include issues on CPT codes 64550, 97140 and the concurrent billings of 95900 with 95903. We are always available to discuss legal challenges but we are not attorneys. If you require a "legal opinion", we will be happy to refer you to a competent healthcare law attorney in your area. Our consulting services are as diverse as the issues of challenge. Feel free to call Dr. Ramsdell at 702-838-0054 to discuss your personal circumstances and how we can be of assistance to you in finding a viable and affordable solution. OversightFee for Service Medicine is a thing of the past. Today's environment is constantly subject to peer review, carrier audits, scrutiny of care, medical necessity of services and denial of payment under carrier coverage policies. Demands for refunds of overpayments and carrier allegations of fraud or abuse issues increasingly frequent. Large or small, practices can loose thousands in revenue simply because they do not bill the items correctly or fail to document encounter specific evidence to properly support the services billed or the necessity of diagnostics or continued care. Many practices don't bill for everything they can legitimately receive payments on while others over-code, miscode or bill for components while billing a comprehensive code on the same day. Use of correct modifiers, proper determinations for E&M coding, total timed service billings and improper relationship billings or over utilizations are all situations commonly found by our auditors in oversight reviews. Improper physician compensation, failure to observe regulations, kickbacks, inducements, improper advertising, administering unskilled therapy, labor law issues and failure to observe Medicare required contingencies are all potential disaster areas for today's practices. Virtually every association, including the AMA and Medicare CMS advise physicians to contract with "outside consultants" to review and monitor your practice's coding, billing and documentation compliance. Pay backs, denials, civil monetary penalties and criminal actions are all "real issues" in today's practice arena and your "intent" is no longer an issue. The MedCorp Compliance Network has various plans to provide your with only the level of oversight you actually need. Current clients vary in their actual formal review process from one a year to every month with customized plans starting at only $1,600.00 per year that includes full consulting services. Online, personal training for your physicians, managers and billing people is also available at no additional charge. All reports are "in writing" and confidential and may, if you wish, be submitted through your attorney under the attorney work product provisions which makes our reports "un-discoverable" for legal action purposes. Compliance is "mandatory" in today's practice arena. Virtually every carrier now employs fraud investigators and actions against practitioners always are prefaced with "We believe you knew or SHOULD HAVE KNOWN" as the basis of their complaints. Ignorance is not an acceptable defense and your failure to seek and procure adequate independent oversight is now considered "reckless disregard". What are the benefits of oversight? Decreased denials, decreased risk of refunds on overpayment issues, proper support of services through adequate documentation and "increased income" through proper billing. Don't loose another night's sleep. Call Dr. Ramsdell at 702-838-0054 for your free, no obligation consultation. There Is Never a Wrong Time to Start Doing Things Right.
